Novantica History

The known world consists of several interesting and well explored areas. None of these are defined, yet. You should use your imagination.

Old world powers

Several powerful kingdoms are presently in power over the known world. The notable of these are the Elvish Enclave of Coranoldo, the Dwarfish Kingdom of Arhaus, the Human Province of Hasenland, and the Human Empire of Lyaji. There are many more, but these are those chiefly at play in Novantica.

Coranoldo Enclave

An ever-revolving counsel of thirteen elders rules over the most ancient gathering of elves known to all history. They only rarely question their leadership, as they tend to all fall along the same ideological leanings. Coranoldo elves revere nature, consider themselves superior, and otherwise typically meet all the elvish stereotypes. The Enclave has decreed that the ancient forests, plains, and even deserts of Novantica shall be restored. While the elders cannot agree as to 'why', each feels an impending need to see the damage mortals have done to this land…

Kingdom of Arhaus

The 'Golden hammer' dwarves are typically round, loud, and dirty. Their culture reveres hard work, at least in youth, and encourages all to spend their ancient years in luxury through the spoils of their labors. It is the dream of every Arhausian to die in his or her bed, beneath the finest furs, and leaving much for the heirs to squabble over. Novantica represents a virgin land ripe for plundering, or perhaps 'harvesting', depending on which amongst them you may ask…

Hasenland Province

The humans and halflings of Hasenland are as various and as bland has humans and halflings have a reputation for aspiring to be. This 'republic', if it could be called as much, is a loose collection of various power centers, all of whom collaborate mostly only in order to keep the Coranoldo and Arhausians at bay. As such they trade with all who are willing and tend to keep an open mind wherever reasonable. The further you get from the power centers the more friendly and welcoming the people seem to be…

Lyaji Empire

At the far Eastern edge of the known world lies the tiny island of Chushun from whence sprung a powerful empire. Responsible for more territory in the East than all the other nations listed here combined, the Lyaji are relative newcomers. They bring with them as many strange customs as they do gold coins, and thus are both feared and beloved. Understanding that the known world is mostly conquered, Empress Chenhua believes Novantica offers the greatest glory for her people and her ancestors…

Established powers

The Pyramis

In the time before time, some three thousand years ago, the lands of Novantica were inhabited by a polyracial society known as the Pyramis. Little is known about this culture, chiefly because they were obliterated by the goblins a very, very long time ago. They lived primarily underground in highly elaborate cities. Their numbers included creatures of nearly every known race and prior to their fall they were easily the largest known civilization on the planet. Their riches were long ago plundered, but any artifacts found today are quite valuable to the right collector. Unfortunately, many are also cursed…

The Goblin Tribes

While goblins are a scourge upon every known land, none were ever so beset as Novantica. Stories tell of the multitude throng overwhelming the established fortresses of the Pyramis people. As the goblins were the only survivors and are likewise horrible historians, we may never truly know how they accomplished such a feat. To the modern day, each tribe of goblins is a loosely-packed bunch of trouble. As eager to prey upon one-another as anything or anyone else that moves, the Goblins represent one of the most persistent and real threats of Novantica…

The Orcish Hordes

Some time after the Goblin victory over the Pyramis, a number of Orcs descended upon the plains of Novantica that was nearly as large. Millennia of war have hardened these bands into a fearsome opponent, but have likewise thinned their numbers. Largely independent and extremely nomadic, the Orcs keep mostly to themselves. They do however have a nasty habit of taking whatever they want, and they seldom ever leave survivors. Feared as they are respected, none in Novantica wish to meet Orcish forces upon the battlefield…

Setheria

Mother to a brood of the finest Brass Dragons, Setheria followed the Arhausian forces to Novantica and has already begun to challenge the resident dragons for control.
